Kilimanjaro Hike

The Maundi Crater is a small but picturesque volcanic crater located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, just a short distance from the Mandara Hut.  The Chagga people are a local ethnic group who have been growing and processing coffee for generations, and a tour of their coffee farms offers a fascinating glimpse into the history, culture, and daily life of this vibrant community. During a Chagga coffee tour, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the entire coffee production process, from planting and harvesting to roasting and brewing.

The tour often includes a visit to the Marangu Waterfalls, where visitors can take a refreshing dip in the natural pool at the base of the falls.

Kikuletwa Hot Springs
Kikuletwa Hot Springs, also known as Chemka Hot Springs, is a natural spring located in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. It is situated near the village of Boma Ng'ombe and is about 2 hours drive from Moshi town. The water in the springs is crystal clear, with a turquoise blue color and a constant temperature of around 27 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Visitors can swim and relax in the hot springs, which are surrounded by a lush forest and a beautiful landscape. The area is also a popular spot for bird watching and picnics. 

 

 

Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Tour
Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour is a popular day tour in the Kilimanjaro region. The tour takes visitors to the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls, located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Visitors can enjoy a guided hike through the lush forest to the waterfall, which cascades down a 70-meter high cliff. The area around the waterfall is also home to various bird species, butterflies, and monkeys. After visiting the waterfall, visitors can then go on a coffee tour and learn about the coffee-making process from planting and harvesting to roasting and brewing. Visitors get to see coffee farms, pick and roast coffee beans, and taste the final product. The tour provides a great opportunity to learn about the local culture and traditions of the Chagga people who inhabit the area.

Lake Chala

Resting at about 40Km from the city of Moshi and close to the Kenya border of Taveta, Lake Challa is one of the 250 parasitic cones and craters in the Kilimanjaro complex, that exhibits some of the finest volcanic scenarios in the world. The volcanic caldera lake is the largest in the region and presents a dramatic landscape with its lush green vegetation and crystal-clear green/blue azure provides a stark contrast to the terrain.

 This isolated ecosystem also inhabits some fauna and can be easily seen from between the first and the second campsite at the Marangu trail.

      The Crater Lake Challa is a great place to visit for a swim, canoeing or simply camping if you have a free day in Moshi.

Paragliding safaris;

It’s forbidden to paraglide over National Parks though; there is now a MICROFLIGHT operation over the lake Manyara’s Great Rift Valley escarpment wall.
